Hello! My name is Graciela Romero- I am an aspiring Digital Marketing Apprentice from NYC.
Where Have I Been? I graduated from Baruch College (Spring 2016) with a bachelors in Business Administration. I majored in Marketing with a focus in Advertising and minored in Communications. I previously held an internship at Shobha, a beauty based company that specializes in hair removal and natural beauty products. I worked under the art director in many projects including target market research, client acquisition and social media posts. During my senior year at Baruch I was VP of Marketing for Women in Business. I overlooked all marketing content being produced as well as creative production of videos.
Where Am I Now? I am currently a salon coordinator at Shobha. I maintain an effective client schedule as while providing attentive customer service. I do my best to make every visit to Shobha a pleasant one. I am also a part of COOP as a digital marketing apprentice. I joined to learn essential skills needed in digital marketing world. I know I will leave this program with a digital toolkit and a group of new connections that I hope to keep through out my professional career.
Where Am I Going? In the future I would like to always continue my leadership skills in any position I find myself in. My dream is to grow within a company who's culture I feel comfortable in and have a team I can lead and develop.
- I can strategize and come up with solutions to problems I encounter at work or on a day to day basis.
- I can lead a team of different personalities and different work styles to produce satisfactory results.
- I can be creative through content creation and video production.
1 Learning Target
I can continue to work on my analytical skills which I am currently developing and improving with COOP.
2 Companies I Really Admire and Why
I believe Walmart has done an amazing job with their marketing- they don't only target people interested in a deal. Throughout many campaigns they have incorporated the importance of targeting diverse groups such as Hispanics.
Apple has been a leader not only in revolutionary products they have been a leader in branding. They have created an emotional relationship with consumers that is unlike any other brand.
Let me tell you about ...
Setting the stage. During my Senior year I was VP of Marketing for the largest organization at Baruch, Women in Business.
The beginning. When I entered my term as VP of Marketing all our social media sites were not as active and interactive as I thought it could be. During my first meeting with the president of the org. I set my goal to create content on all platforms that would lead to more engagement.
The middle. In order to produce quality content and to have a social media presence I recruited a team of 19 marketing students. By holding bi-weekly meeting with each platform team and developing ideas with each team focusing on new content that prioritized creating a relationship with our followers.
The End. For instagram we had weekly posts like: Monday Motivation, Word of the Week, Women Can, Company of the Week. For Facebook we created event pages to create more interest in events, we shared articles and posted videos such as TEDtalks. In order to create more real time presence we saw an opportunity with Snapchat to have live updates on events! (We were the first org. to reach out to students via Snapchat!) YouTube was completely revamped with weekly update videos of our events and other video series' such as "Who is WIB?"
Reflection. No matter how big or small a goal may seem you can reach it if you strategize your process in order to end up with the final product you want.
