Where Have I Been? I graduated from Hunter College in May 2015, with a Bachelor of Arts in Media and a Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies. During my college career I interned at a couple of nonprofit locations. I was an intern at the Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence. I aided the program analyst and outreach coordinator in preparing products to distribute to women in low income neighborhoods. I also interned at BedStuy's Campaign Against Hunger, a food pantry. I also assisted in the programming of a food health course for the elderly.
Where Am I Now? Currently I am a Back of House manager at the Soho flagship location of American Eagle Outfitters. I work with a team of other managers, sales and operations, to create systems that create a great work environment and encourages individual and team development. I am also part of COOP, which is a digital marketing apprenticeship. In this program, I learn skills such as SEO, SEM, paid social, html, Google Analytics, and Excel. In addition to the digital marketing skills, COOP also helps in creating a sense of community with alumni and fellow people. We work with each other as we hone our skills and talents.
Where Am I Going? I plan on using my skills to getting a career in digital marketing. Getting the necessary skills to build my own brand. My end goal is to create a non profit organization that focuses on creating a sense of self and confidence for young black girls.
- I can solve problems quickly and under pressure.

Let me tell you about ...
Setting the stage. I have been with American Eagle Outfitters for about 4 years. I have played many roles but one of most fulfilling roles has been as a stock manager. It is a challenging job but very rewarding. One of focuses of development was and still is, is to work with my leads, develop their strength and have game plans to tackle their weaknesses.
The beginning. When I was initially promoted, I had a lead who was very task oriented and awesome at making sure the team is working efficiently. As amazing as she was, she had a lot of difficulty in controlling her tone and many associates felt as if she was speaking to them in a condescending manner.
The middle. I brought up this issue with her and immediately began working with her. We set a goal that the opinions of the associates would change but her efficiency as a doer would only enhance, I used company tools such as videos, had coaching conversations, role played and maintained constant communication with her to track her growth.
The End. She eventually came to a point where associates were excited to with and for her.
Reflection. I realized that I enjoy developing people.Although i had to learn how essentially speak another language, a way that encouraged conversation with my lead, the result was worth it. When the team can see that leaders are invested in their development, they are more excited to come to work and work hard.
