2 Companies I really admire and Why
Google has been an essential part of my life. Growing up "Just Google it" was always said when there were questions or a need for anything. Not only does google have a great search engine, the company has a great innovative community that continues to achieve and build great things that specializes in internet related products and services. Their google maps, self-driving cars, google glass, are only few of the great things that I am sure are soon to come.
BuzzFeed is an internet based media company that is a cross-platform, global network for news and entertainment. I admire BuzzFeed's ability to capture the public's attention, putting out content that people enjoy and want to share. There is always something for everyone. BuzzFeed makes an effort to understand the public, and put out content that they believe their audience is looking for or expecting to see.
Let me tell you about ...
Two years ago, during my sophomore year of college, I started interning at a nonprofit called Life Vest Inside, dedicated to empowering the masses to engage in acts of love and kindness. The nonprofit was still not very known at the time, so two other interns and I worked in a small office space inside the founder's home. We were put through challenging situations; it was our responsibility to find ways to promote the organization's goal, plan events that reflected our mission, manage and create social media content for multiple social media accounts to spread awareness, and look for sponsorships. With the support of encouraging colleagues, I was able to push and lead our small team to succeed in all the challenging situations we faced. We were able to plan successful events, spread awareness to a vast audience, find sponsorships, and was a key factor in the nonprofit's growth. When the internship was finished, Life Vest Inside's community grew, and was becoming so well known that the office had to be moved into a big space in Times Square! Interning at Life Vest Inside not only taught me a lot about kindness and the amount of work that goes into a nonprofit, it also taught me a lot of life lessons as well. I learned that nothing is impossible if you put your heart and mind into it, obstacles and road bumps are what makes you stronger, especially once it is surpassed.
