Short Intro. Hey there! My name is Johan Forero I am an inquisitive creative with experience in social media, art direction, and copywriting. I was born in Colombia but raised in NYC. Did you know I am also a mixologist?
Where Have I Been? I have a bachelor's in Communications focused on advertising and public relations and a minor in studio art from The City College of New York. I finished my degree in december of 2014 but stayed for another semester to be able to take an internship at Young & Rubicam as an art director where I had the opportunity to work as a creative for a major client for the first time. Right after that I graduated in May 2015.
Where Am I Now? I am currently freelancing as a copywriter for a boutique agency called The Brooklyn Brothers where I've been able to work with various clients, focusing on the Hispanic market developing content for social media platforms. I joined COOP because I am a strong believer that social media is the future of the industry and therefore digital marketing has major influence when it comes to social media.
Where Am I Going? I hope I can learn coding because as a creative it is a very useful tool that can make the difference during an interview as well as facebook ads, google analytics, and other tools that can help me develop insights based on data to be able to create genuine content. In the near future I would love to merge my creative knowledge along with the skillset I am developing at COOP to launch a new era of communications where I believe social media will be the center of it all. In the near future digital marketing will be the main source of communications for any company and therefore it is imperative that we as professionals can adapt.

I can at times be a perfectionist
2 Companies I really admire and Why
Droga5 is a NYC based agency. It is one of the best creative agencies in the world since it has been named Agency of the year for nine years. I admire them because the have managed to create original and genuine content in their campaigns.
Target is the second-largest retailer in the United States. I admire them because they have managed to sell every day product by working on the brand image and improving their presence in social media platforms.
Let me tell you about Terraza 7
Setting the stage.
While working for a music venue as a bartender I saw an opportunity to enhance their brand image and improve their presence in social media. I spoke to the owner and convinced him to make some changes. He liked them so much that sooner than later I became their art director, social media manager, and copywriter.
By using the skills I had developed in school I was able to analyze the venue's insight and develop a strategy.
I was in charge of their facebook, twitter, and instagram pages. My responsibilities included developing content, engaging users, developing strategies to attract more followers, and generate awareness of what the venue was about.
I managed these platforms for about 6 months without realizing that this idea that I once had would open my first door working for an agency. 2 months later I went for an interview at an agency called MGS and I was offered an internship within the social media department, where I was able to work with HBO Latino.
No opportunity is small. Make the best of your present time and develop each and every idea and opportunity that you can because it can lead you somewhere else.
