My name is Sean Nurse, I am a Web & Graphic Designer in Brooklyn.  I graduated from New York City College of Technology in 2015 with a BA in Graphic Arts Production Management.

I am currently working at SUNY Downstate Medical Center as a Computer Operator.  I am responsible for maintaining and uploading medical records.  I am very comfortable with learning new software and technical skills.  Some of the skills I have already learned are Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, HTML, CSS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

I joined COOP to increase my skills in SEO and SEM, as well as to assist me in launching my career and utilize the skills I've learned as well as learn new ones.

I want to work in a career that continues to challenge me to learn new skills and utilize the skills I've already learned.

2 Companies I really admire and Why

Blue Ridge Labs is a social impact incubator that runs fellowship programs that build products for communities that are often overlooked by technology.

I admire them because the projects are very effective and the people there seem to genuinely care about the issues they are trying to solve.

HUGE is an advertising agency in Downtown Brooklyn that has expanded to locations around the world.  The style of their advertising is very casual and fun and so is their work environment.

I admire that Huge is a company that emphasizes enjoying your work environment but also puts out amazing work and has a variety of professional clients.

Let me tell you about Web Design

I was once given two weeks to create a new website.  The client that wanted a redesigned website, was not only primarily Spanish-speaking but did not have much of an understanding of managing a website.  I was to work on this project alone but I had my coworkers to give me feedback and advice.

The company wanted a content management system that they could easily use, and together with the help of my coworkers, we decided that Squarespace would be the best choice to quickly and effectively manage content and design.

When the time came to present I was nervous because I had worked very hard on the website, and I wanted the client to like it.  I had also put in many extra hours to make sure that it matched their marketing materials and overall message of the company.

The company enjoyed my layout and design of the website but in the end chose not to use Squarespace because of pricing concerns.  I learned that the feedback, and advice I received from my coworkers helped me to improve my work, and improve the clients overall satisfaction.
