Frequently Asked Questions

How do I say COOP?

When's the next program?

Fall 2019 cohorts are currently underway, but our Spring 2020 class is right around the corner. Applications for the Spring cycle will go live on October 1, 2019.

What's the program schedule?

  • February 18, 2020 to June 11, 2020

  • Evenings, 6:30-9:30pm

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

  • Midtown Manhattan and Downtown San Francisco

  • 90% attendance requirement

How much does the program cost?

Thanks to alumni leaders and generous sponsors, the COOP Apprenticeship is 100% FREE for all participants. In return, we ask that all alumni pay-it-forward as coaches, mentors, advocates, and sponsors.

Do apprentices get compensated?

No, this is an unpaid learning experience.

Who is eligible to participate?

We're all about overcoming underemployment. That means we're looking for recent college graduates still searching for their first “career job.” Here’s a breakdown of eligibility requirements we look for in potential candidates:

  • You’ve earned a bachelor’s degree before the first day of program (February 18, 2020).

  • You are unemployed or underemployed, meaning your current job description does not require a bachelor’s degree.

  • You earn less than $45,000 per year.

  • You are authorized to work in the US.

In addition, candidates should also identify with at least one of these three criteria:

  • First-generation college grad: You (or a sibling) are the first in your immediate family to earn a bachelor’s degree.

  • Financial aid recipient: You qualified for public financial aid during most or all of college (examples include federal Pell Grants; TAP and SEEK grants in New York; or Cal Grants in California)

  • Underrepresented minority: You identify as Black/African-American; Latinx/Hispanic; American Indian/Native Alaskan; and/or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander

Am I a good candidate?

Just like our curriculum, we're focused on three things:

  • Head: You love to learn and you’re excited to pursue a career in digital marketing or data analytics.

  • Heart: You believe in community and the power of peer relationships.

  • Hustle: You’re ready to work hard and take control of your career.

I'm not a recent grad—yet! Can I still apply?

Thank you for finding us and for your interest! We're excited to meet you soon. That said, we are strictly accepting college graduates. But we're not going anywhere! We're going to be growing in New York and California (and beyond, we hope!), and new cohorts start every semester. Please keep us in mind and apply ASAP.

What are the requirements for program completion?

This is a rigorous program, to say the least. The program is designed with one goal in mind: Supporting your career launch. The more you engage with the COOP community, the more meaningful it will be for you. To successfully complete COOP’s program, the following are required:

  • At least 90% program attendance

  • At least 8/10 on four “Hustle” rubrics (Resume, LinkedIn, Cover Letter, Interviewing)

  • Participate in at least two interview prep sessions

  • Complete and submit all assignments

  • Contribute meaningfully to your team project(s)

  • Get certified in select digital platforms, such as Google Ads and Google Analytics

Am I guaranteed to get a full-time offer or internship?

Sadly, we've learned there's no such thing as a guaranteed job. Trust us—we wish there were. We can't promise any job offer or paid internship, but we are totally committed to doing everything we can to accelerate your career. Think of us as a multiplier of your effort. Whatever you put in, we'll multiply the value with digital skills and peer connections. But remember: Anything times zero is zero.

So, what is COOP?

COOP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are honored to collaborate with major organizations like CUNY, SFSU, Google, and Microsoft, but we are fully and proudly independent. Come join us!
