Ray is President and CEO of The Invus Group, LLC, a New York-based global investment firm which he co-founded in 1985, as the exclusive investment advisor of Benelux-based Artal Group S.A.  Since its founding, Invus has been an equity investor in companies that seek to transform their industries. Invus partners with owner-managers to help them achieve extraordinary business performance over time.  Prior to forming Invus, Ray was a manager for The Boston Consulting Group.

Ray is the Chairman of Action Against Hunger, a Trustee Emeritus of Connecticut College, and a Trustee of the Lebanese American University. He is also Chairman of the Board of publicly traded WW International, Inc. (formerly WeightWatchers) and Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and the former Chairman of Blue Buffalo Pet Products, Inc. until its 2015 IPO. Additionally, he serves on the board of several of Invus private portfolio companies.

Ray holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, an MS in Food Science and Technology from the University of California, Davis and a BS in Agricultural Sciences and Agricultural Engineering, with distinction, from the American University of Beirut.
