Russ is a Founding Board Member of COOP Careers. He is currently the Chairman of The Carson Family Charitable Trust. Prior to that, Russ spent 37 years as General Partner and Co-Founder of Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, one of the country’s largest private investment firms which specializes in investing in companies in the information technology and healthcare industries. From 1967 to 1978, Russ was employed by the Citicorp Venture Capital subsidiary of Citicorp and served as its chairman and chief executive officer from 1974 to 1978.

Russ has served on numerous non-profit boards, including as Chairman of Rockefeller University, Co-Chairman of the New York Genome Center, Chairman of the Partnership Schools, Vice Chairman of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee for New York-Presbyterian Hospital System, Co-Chairman of the Nominating & Governance Committee for the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, Trustee of Dartmouth College, and Chairman of the Board of Overseers of Columbia Business School.

Russ received a BA degree in economics from Dartmouth College in 1965 and an MBA from Columbia Business School in 1967. Russ also holds honorary degrees from Dartmouth College and Rockefeller University.
