Tanya Barnes

Board Member


Since 2022, Tanya has served as the Managing Partner of Sustainability Investing at J.P.Morgan. In this role, she co-leads the Sustainable Growth Equity platform, which leverages the global scale, sustainability expertise and data intelligence of J.P. Morgan to invest in companies that are leading the transition to a sustainable future. The team invests in private growth companies that produce measurable, science-based and commercially-driven positive sustainability outcomes.

She has over 20 years of principal investing and corporate finance experience. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Tanya was a Managing Director and Head of Blackstone Impact, an investment platform that partnered with mission-driven companies and management teams whose products or services address major social and environmental challenges. Blackstone Impact aimed to deliver attractive market-rate financial returns and measurable impact by investing directly into companies alongside generalist private equity managers, impact managers and other investing businesses at Blackstone.

Prior to joining Blackstone, Tanya ran her own firm where she was an active advisor, investor and board member to investment firms and operating businesses.

Tanya has also served as a Managing Director in the Merchant Banking Division of Goldman Sachs where she focused on executing direct private equity investment opportunities for Principal Investment Area, and on helping to build and run the division's co-investment platform. She spent the early part of her career at Goldman in the Special Situations Group (SSG) where she invested the firm's proprietary capital in debt and equity transactions for distressed assets and businesses. 

Tanya received an A.B. from Harvard and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. She is based out of New York, New York.
