What is data analytics?
Data analytics is the science of analyzing raw data to draw business insights. Data is collected, transformed, and organized to make predictions, draw conclusions, and drive informed decisions. Data analytics is a dynamic and surging profession—with opportunities growing in every industry.
Like in our other tracks, the Data Analytics curriculum is split into "hard" and "soft" skills — because every successful career requires Head, Heart, and Hustle.
On page 19 of this recent report from the World Economic Forum, big data specialists are first on the list of roles with increasing demand. Data warehousing specialists, data analysts and scientists are also in the top 15 for fastest growing jobs.
Thanks to our Grow with Google partners, we are able to offer the Google Data Analytics Certificate as part of our core technical skills learning where program participants gain working knowledge of essential data analysis platforms — including spreadsheets, SQL, Tableau and R programming, leading to increased opportunities in creating new career pathways.
Get started in data analytics
Through our fellowship, you will get everything that makes COOP special - community, coaching, and career prep - plus the opportunity to make significant progress toward Google’s industry-recognized Data Analytics Professional Certificate through Coursera.
The technical (“head skills”) training is primarily powered by Coursera’s Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate. Fellows complete more than half of the certificate asynchronously with the support and accountability of peers and near-peer coaches.
By the time the fellowship ends, fellows will be on track to finish the remaining coursework, typically within 4–8 weeks, and earn the full credential that employers know and value, on top of the COOP fellowship experience.

Data analytics alumni: career journey
COOP’s Data Analytics curriculum is comprehensive and well-structured, covering both theoretical concepts and practical tools used in the field. Fellows get to practice entry-level job responsibilities in data analytics through our hands-on capstone project.
The capstone project offers our fellows the opportunity to demonstrate and refine their technical and soft skills in real-time. Fellows collaborate in small groups to derive data driven insights that replicate entry level job responsibilities in data analytics.
Completing the capstone project results in a deliverable—such as a report or presentation—that serves as a tangible work-like experience they can leverage during their career search and highlight during job interviews.
