COOP Careers Data Privacy Policy
COOP Careers, Inc. (COOP) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting low-income college graduates overcome underemployment. Since 2015, COOP has launched over 300 cohorts with nearly 4,000 alumni in six cities: New York, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Miami.
COOP is providing the information below to help you understand our data collection and dissemination practices regarding information collected via our website and through any forms or surveys we send you in which you provide self-reported personal information.
Our Policy on Children
To protect the privacy of minors, COOP does not knowingly collect, maintain, or process Personal Information submitted online or via any other avenue by anyone under the age of 18.
Data We Collect
We collect different types of information from our users via our website, including but not limited to:
Personal Information (e.g., name, contact information, login credentials, etc.)
Usage and Device Information (e.g., IP address, website access dates and times, etc.)
Location Information (geolocation information provided by usage and device information)
We also collect information through forms and surveys we send to potential program candidates, program participants, and program alumni, including but not limited to:
Personal information provided when you apply to a COOP program such as name, birthdate, hometown, current address, educational history, financial information, and other related information, in order to determine eligibility for program acceptance
Personal information you provide to us via alumni surveys including employment history and current employment information (employer, job title, salary, etc.)
Support correspondence when you contact us, including email addresses and records of your correspondence. We may also create event logs to capture information related to support or service issues related to program delivery, survey administration, or use of our website.
Contact phone number, including mobile for SMS purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes.
How We Use Data
COOP uses data we collect solely for non-commercial purposes including but not limited to determining program eligibility and acceptance, fulfilling program delivery obligations and for research and evaluation purposes to further our mission of overcoming underemployment. COOP does not sell the data we collect to third parties.
Data Sharing
In order to further our mission of overcoming underemployment, COOP may share anonymized, de-identified, or otherwise non-identifiable data with program partners and/or third parties. We may also, from time to time, share non-de-identified data, including personally identifiable information (PII). We contractually require all third parties to agree to confidentiality and data protection provisions and to use the information we provide only to perform the obligations set forth in our agreements with them. Note: we do not share phone numbers with any third parties or program partners.
We may also disclose information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, such as to respond to a subpoena or similar legal process, to protect against misuse or unauthorized use of our website, to limit our legal liability, and to protect our rights or to protect the rights, property, or safety of visitors of this website or the public, and to otherwise cooperate with law enforcement or regulatory authorities.

For United States residents, we will send you information related to our program and alumni offerings. You may opt-out of electronic mailings at any time. We maintain compliance with marketing requirements outlined in the CAN-SPAM Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and other applicable law.
Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies
COOP uses Google Analytics; you may turn off Google Analytics tracking and disable cookies in your browser settings. Google Analytics does not share actual IP address information with Google Analytics customers.
We may also track users by IP address and by cookies for broad demographic data, as well as to ensure that we are delivering the information you want. Cookies can be disabled in your browser settings.
“Do Not Track” signals are options available on your browser to tell operators of websites that you do not wish to have your online activity tracked. Our website operates no differently if these “Do Not Track” signals are enabled or disabled. Our website does not allow any third parties to collect Personal Information about your online activities over time or across websites for their own purposes.
California Privacy Rights
Under California Civil Code Section 1798.83, California customers are entitled to request information relating to whether a business has disclosed personal information to any third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes. That notice will identify the categories of information shared and will include a list of the third parties and affiliates with which it was shared, along with their names and addresses.
