💻 Class online tools
We will use a combination of Slack (for communication), Brightspace (for learning modules and assignment completion), and Coursera (learning modules), Corporate Finance Institute also know as CFI (certificate completion) throughout the semester.
Assignments and other work will be done both synchronously and asynchronously throughout the semester.
For example, the CFI certificate is a requirement to complete the fellowship. This work will take place outside of program time so fellows should plan their schedule accordingly.
🏙️ In-person collaboration
You will meet in-person once per month with the first gathering taking place in March. The location is in Union Square at Civic Hall located at 124 E 14th Street.
Below are the dates the financial services cohorts will be meeting in person in New York City.
Please note dates are subject to change and will be communicated by Program Ops if that needs to happen.
Below is the March in-person date based on program manager. Please plan accordingly.
March 12: Chris
The details for April and May will be shared during program (please hold both days on your calendar for now):
April 8th or 9th
May 13th or 14th
📅 Syllabus
Your syllabus will be available through Brightspace. You can also download below.
📜 Professional certificate requirement
You will have free access to a multitude of finance-focused professional development material from the Corporate Finance Institute (CFI)! There are 30 mandatory hours of content that will follow alongside the COOP schedule as a part of your program completion requirements.
Fellows can expect the link for CFI no later than February 7th (check your spam if you do not see it).
Fellows must complete the first course, Introduction to Banking, by February 14th. There will be a live discussion about this course on February 18th.
Completing the CFI courses are a requirement outside of program hours and we recognize the challenges of balancing commitments. If you encounter any difficulties, please reach out to your captains or program manager for guidance. We are here to support you every step of the way!
➡️ Resume
COOP prepares you to be career-ready for the Data Analytics industry within 16 weeks.
That's why it's crucial to meet the deadlines we set. The first draft of your "perfectly imperfect" resume submission are due on the following dates:
Chicago and Miami: February 19th
California: February 21st
NYC: February 24th
You will then collaborate with your captains to gather feedback and work toward a 5/5 on your resume.
☕ Coffee chats
Building connections with mentors is a key component of the COOP Careers Fellowship. We encourage you to set up virtual coffee chats and informational meetings with your program manager, captains, and alumni as soon as you get to know folks.
🕙 Office hours
Associate directors and program managers hold office hours each week. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, seek advice, or simply check in. We encourage you to make the most of this resource! Ask your captain or program manager for the Calendly links after your program starts.
You are expected to attend office hours at least once during the semester.
🤞 Code of conduct
COOP’s Partnerships Team will organize non-mandatory workshops, sessions, and networking opportunities outside of your regularly scheduled COOP program hour. You are not required to attend, but you are expected to honor your RSVP. You may be withheld from attending future events if you fail to show up for a registered event.
